The new ethanol season begins on December 1, 2020 and ET Now learns that the government is planning a bigger than usual hike in the procurement price. So far, Ethanol process have been increased routinely by less than Rs 1 per litre. The idea is to boost domestic ethanol production and encourage sugar mills to divert more sugarcane for this purpose.
Sources tell ET Now, that the cabinet is likely to take up increase in the price of ethanol by the end of October 2020 and the Oil Ministry is currently drafting a proposal to increase the ethanol procurement price.
