Royal Enfield has just launched the much-awaited Classic 650 at EICMA 2024. The Royal Enfield Classic 650 sports the familiar ‘Classic’ styling complete with a circular headlamp, circular indicators, spoked alloy wheels at both ends and side panels similar to the Royal Enfield Classic 350.

The Classic 650 is based on the same 650cc platform as the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, Bear 650 and Shotgun 650. It is powered by a slightly modified 647.95cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 47.6PS and 52Nm, mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 features the same semi-digital instrument console as the Classic 350 with an optional navigation tripper pod. The tripper pod supports smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for turn-by-turn navigation. The bike also has a USB charging port.

The bike uses telescopic forks with fork covers, dual rear shocks, and 19-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels wrapped in 140-section front and 100-section rear tires.

The braking system includes a single 320mm rotor matched to a dual-piston caliper up front and a 300mm rotor with a dual-piston caliper out back. Both units provide adequate stopping power around town and at leisurely speeds, but hard braking in corners quickly triggers the dual-channel ABS system long before the tires run out of traction.
