Sublimation printing on fabrics is the process of printing a digital image using special sublimation inks on transfer paper. When heated to a high temperature, the sublimation ink turns into a gas. The pores of the fabric open up and allow the ink vapor to enter. Then, when the heating is complete, the fabric pores close, trapping the ink inside. The digital image becomes part of the actual object. Sublimation requires special ink, paper and certain polymer-coated substrates.
