About the Speaker:
Karim is a Senior Investment Advisor, Startup Coach, and Mentor.
He also is a co-founder of a $700M telecom company, which gave him an opportunity to experience all the ups and downs first hand.
Following this success, Karim has started to dedicate his time to entrepreneurship by helping the startups in the region. He had closely worked with more than 100 start-ups (in many sectors), helping them on their journey to bring up their dream ventures!
He has also been on the other end of the table, being a part of a $300 million investment committee assessing and advising companies.
Karim has spent more than 10 years in private equity, where he was a CFO of a merchant bank based in the DIFC called Alcazar Capital.
Suffice it to say, he has seen the world of a start-up company through the eyes of an owner, an investor, and a coach.
Driven by his passion, Karim also founded the Practical Entrepreneur to help entrepreneurs succeed.
Anuscha Iqbal, CEO of Spotii.me
Anuscha has over 14 years of experience in investment banking and alternative asset management. She is currently CEO of Spotii, the MENA regions leading Shop Now Pay Later platform.
Prior to co-founding Spotii, Anuscha served as a Managing Director at The Abraaj Group where she oversaw the Investment Office function at the firm. Anuscha joined Abraaj in 2007 as a member of the investment team and was responsible for evaluating investment opportunities across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region covering a broad spectrum of industries.
Prior to joining Abraaj, Anuscha worked with Dresdner Kleinwort in New York as an Analyst in the media group, working on mergers and acquisitions and film financing projects.
Anuscha graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The College of Arts and Sciences in 2005.
