We had the perfect real-world experiment this week to prove this point when the new DVC Cabins at Fort Wilderness opened for bookings with points in the seven-month window. On Monday night, there was full availability. Then, once all DVC members were able to book with points on Tuesday, April 23rd, the answer screamed from the availability calendar!
Sure, members pounced at the opportunity to be among the first guests to stay at the new accommodations in July, and the weekends in October and November up through the seven-month booking window were quite popular. But, by the end of the first full day of reservations, only one month was near white-out bookings—September. So, is September the best time to visit Fort Wilderness? Heck no! Think heat, humidity, and hurricane season, but, at 15 points a weekday night for a one bedroom, it offers the cheapest nightly point rates of the whole year! Thus, our fellow point pinchers booked it up, and we say giddy-up!
