Dear sisters and brothers, today, we read a passage from the Gospel according St. Luke, Chapter ten. Here the Lord had sends seventy-two disciples to the towns He intends to visit. And they triumphantly return. While listening to the accounts of their deeds and achievements, “At that very moment Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, ‘I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth’” (Lk 10:21).
Friends, Gratitude is one of the characteristics of humility. The arrogant person believes he owes no one anything. We must first recognize our insignificance in order to be grateful. One of the first words we teach our children is "thanks."
It's been shown time and again that gratitude is the key to success. When you wake up each morning, take a moment to appreciate the good things you have received from the lord. Doing this will set the tone for the rest of the day, and eventually it will become second nature. Positive thinking leads to positive results, so make gratitude a part of your daily routine.
Pope Benedict XVI, when emphasizing the attitude of adoration, he affirms, “that adoring God means recognizing his presence as Creator and Lord of the Universe. The hallmark of worship is, recognizing the greatness of God that arises from the depths of one's heart and marks one's whole being, ensuring that God is the most important part of one's life with the realization that with God at the cent-re of our lives the purpose of their existence will become clear”.
A truly humble person can easily identify and accept that all the good things that are happening in his or her life are a ‘blessing’ for which they should be thankful. They don’t have to prove to themselves or anyone else that it was their efforts that yielded the reward or outcome. So my dear friends lets strive to cultivate the virtue humility.
