Johann Strauss Jr was not the only Waltz King. There were many others, who composed mainly waltzes and other dance music, or were famous because of their waltz compositions. This series features the other waltz kings.
Archibald Joyce (1873 – 1963) was a British light music composer known primarily for his early waltzes. Many of his waltzes were transcribed for the solo piano and widely sold in his day. He was labelled as the English Waltz King.
Songe d'Automne (#AutumnDream) is the waltz that made Joyce famous. It is a brooding, melancholic, hauntingly beautiful waltz. It was also rumoured that this was one of the last pieces played by the #Titanic Orchestra as the ship sank.
