MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this handsome and rarely seen 1978 Toyota BJ40 Land Cruiser with 3.0L "B" diesel engine. This is the true classic Sport utility enthusiast's truck! Finished in it's correct color of Desert Beige, paint shows well with minor imperfections visible upon close inspection.

The Toyota Land Cruiser BJ-40 is a famously tough 4×4 that bears close resemblance to its sibling, the petrol-powered FJ40. These off-roaders are uncompromising, spartan vehicles designed for use in the harshest environments on Earth. The primary difference between the FJ40 and the BJ40 is the engine, the FJ is gasoline powered while the BJ runs on diesel. There’s no small amount of debate over which is better but we can’t help but think that the fuel economy and reliability benefits of the diesel would win out over the better power characteristics of gasoline power.

Finished in it's original shade of Desert Beige, this BJ-40 shows well with some minor imperfections visible upon close inspection and is a recent repaint, although not perfect, it is perfect for the vehicle's intended purpose. Both the front and rear bumpers are in good condition showing some signs of age. The white removable hardtop fits tightly on the truck. Original equipment grey steel wheels are in good condition with no signs of pitting or rash.

Inside, the original gray vinyl front bucket seats and opposing rear bench seats are presentable with no major signs of wear but do show some signs of age, door cards are intact and upholstered to match the seats, dash is painted body color and presents well. In the rear of cabin the bench seats can be neatly folded away for more baggage space, or lowered for passenger usage.

This nicely original BJ40 features rare power steering, a 3.0L inline 4 cylinder diesel engine, coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission provides smooth everyday driving, but with available locking hub four wheel drive and H2/H4 transfer case shifter, this Toyota is ready for some off-roading! Also included is a front bumper mounted power winch, full roof luggage rack (with ladder) original equipment 15 inch wheels with "meaty" 31x10.5R15s tires!

Toyota FJs and BJs are becoming increasingly hard to find and have a well established demand in the classic truck market.
