I only spent a few hours in Amsterdam as it was a port of call for my cruise ship.
Our ship the MSC Virtuosa was only in port for 6 hours but the great thing is the cruise port is only a 20 minute walk to the centre of Amsterdam.
I spent a couple of hours walking the packed out streets and browsing the shop with and then about 40 minutes before sunset decided to get on the canal boat.
The best time I think.
There are many companies providing the same experience but we had picked Lovers Canal Cruises as they were selling tickets at the cruise port for 15 euros.
