Cristina Trowbridge is a senior manager of science teacher professional development at the American Museum of Natural History. Cristina works with a team of colleagues to design and facilitate science teacher professional development workshops, institutes and graduate courses for teachers on science topics such as biodiversity, evolution, conservation genetics, and museum learning. Before coming to the Museum, Cristina taught high school biology for five years at a small expeditionary learning NYC public high school. Before moving to NYC in 2011, she was the director for ten years of a natural history and science museum in New Mexico. Cristina's education background and interests are in Biology, connecting local environmental topics in teaching, K-12 science education, supporting teaching and museum learning. Cristina has a Masters degree in Science Education.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
