Myth : Stress won’t affect the baby in the womb. The baby will be fine.
Truth : Stress in mother during pregnancy can affect the baby. Mother’s stress hormones can cause changes in baby’s developing brain.
Maternal stress can lead to problems in mother such as gestational diabetes , raised eclampsia,preterm deliveries , miscarriages .
In babies it has been seen that it can cause problems such as low birth weight , birth defects and even long term Neuro developmental issues .
So make sure you reduce maternal stress by focusing on activities like meditation, reading a book, listening to music, having phone calls with friends and family, taking a short walk in nature, playing with a pet at home, watching a movie etc. Take care of your health during pregnancy 🙂
The family and community also plays an important role in supporting pregnant women and awareness of maternal mental health should be raised
Remember stress in pregnancy will effect a family as a whole .
