The 2013 BMW ActiveE is literally a 1-Series with an Electric Powerplant instead of a gasoline engine. As of this test drive, the ActiveE is only available in select state as a lease vehicle. Only 700 cars will be issued as a trial for the future of BMW electric vehicles. The 2013 BMW ActiveE combines all the things you would expect from the luxury automaker including: performance, comfort, convenience, design, and efficiency all rolled up into an Ultimate Driving Machine.
The 2013 BMW ActiveE is the ultimate electric driving machine. Under the 1-series body lives a very respectable electric car capable of going 100 miles. In order to achieve this range, BMW had to make a few changes to the 1-Series. On the outside, the front fascia has been designed to be more aerodynamic, thus lowering the drag coefficient. The sporty rims and tires have been replaced by lighter rims and Low Rolling Resistance Tires. The ActiveE has also been lighted in order to make up for the added weight from the battery pack.
The ActiveE has good acceleration thanks to the immediate power brought on by the electric motor. The 2013 BMW ActiveE is rated at 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque. But what else differentiates the BMW ActiveE from other electric cars. One thing is the ActiveE is still a luxury car that provides tons of great features as well as a high level of comfort. The car still feels premium and drives like you would expect from a BMW automobile.
