STORYLINE
Hundreds took part in a funeral procession on Saturday, for two Palestinians killed during a gunfight between Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen near the West Bank city of Jenin.
According to doctors and local residents, one gunman and one civilian were killed on Friday, when an exchange of fire broke out as Israeli soldiers entered the village of Kufr Dan.
The Israeli army said troops operating in the village against "terror infrastructure" identified a group of gunmen and shot toward them, hitting them.
Israeli troops have entered the village several times in recent weeks, apparently in search of militants, the residents said.
Meanwhile in Gaza, Israeli troops shot three Palestinians as they approached the fence around the Gaza Strip - killing one and lightly injuring the other two, the army said.
The soldiers fired when the Palestinians appeared to plant an explosive, the army said.
Pictures filmed by an AP Television crew showed the body of the one killed Palestinian being delivered to the morgue of a local area hospital.
The two Palestinians who were lightly injured were taken for questioning, the army said but did not provide further details.
The army did not immediately say if the Palestinians were carrying weapons.
Earlier in the day, five unarmed Palestinians infiltrated into Israel but were immediately arrested by soldiers on the Israeli side of the fence and taken for questioning, the army said.
Gaza is surrounded by fences on all sides.
Almost all Gaza's crossings with Israel, and with Egypt, have been closed since Hamas took the strip by force in June.
