“What do we think of ‘Yechinkiks’ (those who believe the Lubavitcher Rebbe will return as the Moshiach/Messiah)?”
In this video Rabbi Rowe responds by describing the concept of Moshiach/ the Messiah as the ‘anointed one’ - the future king or leader of the Jewish people who leads first the Jewish people and ultimately all mankind to connect with one another and to connect to Hashem (God), rebuilding the Bet Hamikdash/ God’s home on earth and bringing about world peace.
The late Lubavitcher Rebbe of Chabad Chassidus was undoubtedly a tremendously great leader. Most Rabbis believe for several reasons that the Moshiach is not going to be someone who comes back from the dead, but many of his followers in Chabad, often called ‘Yechiniks’ (literally ‘long live’-niks after a popular chant) do believe just that.
Rabbi Rowe argues that it is not the point we should be fighting over, but rather committing to follow whoever the Moshiach/ Messiah turns out to be, and even more crucially, focusing our lives on acts that will bring that day ever closer.
This is one of many videos in which Rabbi Daniel Rowe addresses questions on Jewish philosophy and Jewish ideas.
