The buck boost transformers can step up or step down voltage and is used to make small changes less than 30 percent to the voltage coming in. For example, the nominal voltage could be 208 Volts when 230 is required for the application. The transformer will boost, or step up, the voltage to the appropriate level and keep the output constant. If the wire configuration is changed, the transformer can be set to buck, or step down, the voltage. This can take the 230 Volts on the input side and output it to 208 Volts.
