An evening spent learning about the BRCA gene and its prevalence in the Jewish community, with an introduction by Rebbetzin Eva Chapper.
Inherited BRCA 1 and 2 genes greatly elevate the risks of developing breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. Having the gene increases a woman’s chance of getting breast cancer by up to 87% and ovarian cancer by up to 60%.
BRCA genes are highly prevalent in Jewish communities where 1 in 40 people will carry the gene.
Having this information empowers people so they can take preventive measures in time and can manage their health effectively.
