Krempita is my favorite dessert (aside from tulumbe!). I don’t make it too often though because I end up eating it all. 😅 It’s made of a sweet vanilla custard sandwiched between puff pastry. Yum.
Ingredients:
6 eggs, separated
1 cup sugar
6 Tbs flour
4 Tbs cornstarch
4.25 cups milk
2 Tbs vanilla extract
2 cups heavy cream
Notes:
Cook the sugar, flour, cornstarch, & milk for at least 15 minutes on low, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened.
If your custard isn’t setting after you’ve let it cool in the fridge: mix 1 Tbs cornstarch with 1 Tbs water. Add to custard & cook over low heat about 10 minutes. This should thicken it. If not, add another cotsstarch/water mix. Cook again. Don’t overdue the cornstarch though because It’ll taste like cornstarch.
Use ready made puff pastry to simply.
