I'm Tired Of Everything But You, Shimmy (Isham Jones) - Orkiestra Piccadilly Londyn, Usiba 1925 (Polish)
NOTE: This record is a total mystery to me. First: nobody ever heard of such Polish record label as "Usiba". Very possibly, it's one of those ephemeric record productions, which closed after first two hundred sides. Such version is proven by a low series number on the label - while matrix No obviously suggests a Polish reprint from some English or American original.
Second: the mystery is also the subtitle written in Polish: "Na ulicy Kairu" meaning in English "On the street of Cairo". Who knows, what's that supposed to mean? I found in the web, that in the turn of the 19/20th Century in Chicago on the World Fair, there was a section called "On the Street of Cairo" which was a design imitating the old centre of Cairo, with the appropriate music played for the visitors. The spot became so popular, that after the World Fair was over, "On the Street of Cairo" went across the US as an independent show, with new musical pieces composed to it, in the pass of time. The show's popularity increased after the Tut-enkh-amun's grave was discovered in Egypt in 1922, causing the worldwide "Aegypitan-fashion-hysteria". The show "On the Street of Cairo" must have easily adopted to the new mainstream fashion, and possibly, one such show took place in London in 1920s, and the new Isham Jones' hit "I'm Tired With Everything But You" was featured in it.
That's the result of my very private investigation.
Third mystery is the "Orkiestra Piccadilly": in my browsing through the web, I did not come across such name. Some hint is the refrain singer, whose voice reminds that of the popular American refrainist of the Roarin' 20s: Irving Kaufman. If it's right, the Kaufman's name opens for us a wide and long array of American dance bands from the 1920s, with which Irving Kaufman co-worked in his long and prolific career... I'm sure, however, that some of you will help to identify this really good dance band - perfectly capturing the hot-dance spirit of the mid-1920s.
