"The House of Culture as an idea is a place; a space that is created for any person to come and interact with art. Not only to contemplate it, but also to create it. This is a very important space, created in Soviet times specifically for people and for their leisure."

"We are talking about the severe style of art in 1960s, and immediately we are talking about the non-objective art of the 1960s, which coexisted at the same time. And it is very important that the art was different. Searches begin, including parallel ones, which do not intersect stylistically. And here just behind me there are works by Erik Bulatov, Francisco Infante and the group "Movement", kinetic art, searches are going on in this direction. And it is very important to talk about the co-existence of different art within Soviet art."

"15 republics, 15 screens, 15 film studios. And, of course, Ukraine was really rich in film directors - Dziga Vertov, Kira Muratova, (Aleksandr) Dovzhenko, of course. These films are presented here. This was very important for the development not only of cinema within the (Ukraine) republic, but in general for the entire Soviet heritage."

"People lived, were inspired, they raised it all. They all did it, artists, creators. There were a lot of buildings. This was one single country, one people, respectively. That's what inspires me, I guess."

LEADIN:
A new exhibition has opened in Moscow to mark the 100th anniversary of the Soviet Union, which was formed in December, 1922.
The 'House of Culture of the USSR' exhibition presents Soviet art; including mosaics, sculptures and paintings.
STORYLINE:
Soviet art in all forms is on display in Moscow.
