In this talk will discuss how developments in quantum information sciences are influencing cryptographic research and real-world deployment. A particular focus will be on the designs and security of post-quantum cryptographic algorithms — these are constructions which are expected to remain secure with the (eventual) advent of quantum computers. This is an area of much activity with the ongoing NIST standardisation process to select post-quantum encryption and signature schemes.
