May 23, 2020 – Kisseemmee, Florida.
An unidentified caller reports a crime - that someone had been shot.
The caller also reported seeing a victim being dragged into a red vehicle.
Law enforcement went to the scene of the supposed crime, but it was too late. Detectives found evidence that a crime took place, however.
Detectives also learned that three roommates lived on the property – Malik Brown, Mark Velez-Amador, and Thaddeous Warrington.
Detectives then learned that Thaddeous Warrington had a girlfriend, Lana Van, and that Lana owned a red Toyota Corolla. That same day, Lana Van’s family, unaware of her location, filed a missing person report about the teen.
The investigation progressed very quickly, and it would take detectives to other locations in Florida. The day after the shooting, Ocala police responded to a reported brush fire at Cala Hills and found a burned body. It turned out to be the body they found was that of one of the roommates - Malik Brown. Malik Brown was the victim of the shooting that took place the day before in Osceola County.
Shortly thereafter, Daytona Beach police department stopped Lana Van’s red Corolla. Mark, Lana and Thaddeous were inside the vehicle. Each was interrogated, and, in the end, all three were charged in connection to the murder of Malik Brown.
So who killed him? Why was he killed? Did Malik Brown and his loved ones receive justice?
