Asteroid 2024 PT5 is approaching Earth and will become our temporary "mini-moon" starting September 29, 2024 . This small asteroid, roughly 11 meters or 36 feet in diameter, was discovered on August 7, 2024, by ATLAS South Africa, Sutherland .

What's exciting is that 2024 PT5 will orbit our planet for about 53 days, until November 25, 2024, before escaping Earth's gravity . During this time, it won't be visible to the naked eye or even with typical amateur telescopes and binoculars due to its small size and dimness . However, professional astronomers with advanced telescopes might be able to capture some images of this temporary alignment.
