It didn't take too long after the LG Optimus G Pro event in NYC for AT&T to push out review units the the press. The Optimus G Pro is LG's answer to the Galaxy Note II from Samsung which started the phablet category. The box is typical AT&T packaging and not much for accessories just the wall charger. Would have been nice to have seen some headphones and a cleaning cloth.
When you first look at the Optimus G Pro or what I like to call it the G Pro is the massive 5.5 inch 1080p display. It's the most standout feature in the phone. The phone is a big phone but much more poketable then you would think and lighter. In terms of software the Optimus UI which is based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly bean is a bit of awesome and a bit of cluttered. The graphics of the UI look amazing from unlocking the lock screen and swiping between home screens. The UI lets you customize just about everything even the icon of your apps. With that said you will fee overwhelmed by all the clutter. So many different quick settings, options and bloatware that I can see a novice user getting turned off by so much. There seems to be some clean up a user will need to do to get the phone the way you want.
So far I like what LG is bringing with the Optimus G Pro. It's a solid phone that is spec well but the lack of a stylus doesn't make me feel that this is a true phablet just yet. We will have to see as I take about a week of full use to see if LG Optimus G Pro has what it takes. Please check out our unboxing and in-depth first impressions video and states below.
