(11 Dec 2014) The presidents of the Visegrad group states (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland) and the presidents of Austria and Slovenia gathered in Prague on Thursday for a summit.
The two-day meeting will focus on transnational transport issues, in particular a transnational canal project that would connect the rivers Danube, Odra and Elbe.
The Czech president supports the project although it has been criticised by ecology experts.
The leaders will also discuss Poland's proposal to create a European investment fund for transport that would help develop infrastructure in the region.
