This is the published piano version of the theme from the 1997 film based on Heinrich Harrer's book (once a favourite of mine) which featured Brad Pitt in the role of the author. John Williams' soundtrack featured the cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and there is an important cello solo in this - which I realize on piano as best I can. Note that on the soundtrack recording, the piece continues - this published score is only of the first part.
