The operation led by community volunteers to bring illegal miners at shaft 11 in Stilfontein in North West to the surface, is under way.
Two illegal miners have been brought to the surface since this morning.
Community Leader Johannes Qankase says they have read another letter from miners who are still underground.
In the letter they say a lot of people are unwell and they request to be sent water, food supplies, and a rope.
Qankase says the last time they sent food underground was last week Friday.
