Please cut me some slack on this seeing as this is my first ever new vehicle of any kind, but I have been time-stamping my gas stops with the receipts to the gas pumps, clock, and odometer by photo or short video on my phone.
I've also been keeping track of my mileage and fuel usage in an Excel spreadsheet so my info is pretty close give or take a few hundred feet or tenths of a mile if you prefer, and even though I have been charting fuel location and timestamps, calculating my nightmare brought to light a previously unrecognized issue.
Going over the stats from the Limp Mode trip I calculated that from fueling up to Limp Mode I went approximately 41.5 miles in 35-39 minutes. That works out to 63.8 to 71.4 miles per hour which means that I haven't been extremely lucky in not being pulled over for speeding past NYS Stroopers at 80mph! So now I have to figure out if there's a way of calibrating the speedometer by software through the CFMOTO dealer or track down a speed or repair shop with a dynomometer so I can figure out how fast I'm really going at the most frequent speed limits I'm riding at through all the small town town twisty back roads I'm surrounded by.
Does every CFMOTO 700 CL-X owner think he's going faster than he truly is? Has anyone had their bikes tested on a dyno?
In case you missed the Limp Mode video, my new installed replacement Reverse Gear Indicator Sensor is bad too! It only acts up in 6th gear after 10-20 miles at high speeds and at temperatures above 40° and it disengages the Cruise Control thinking the bike is in 1st gear.
I've seen a few posts about others having their sensors replaced but are they not experiencing this potentially dangerous disengaging of Cruise Control at high speeds? What is also very confusing to me is that I haven't seen any youtube videos about either of these two issues or problems! Where are all the CFMOTO owners? Isn't anybody as disappointed as I am about this? I can still ride the bike at lower speeds with the cruise control on or on the Thruway at higher speeds in 5th gear so I'm only disappointed. Is anyone pissed off enough to vent? Why not?
Additionally, due to my non-bike related head injury in 2003 I'm really confused and not sure what if ANY of the data the bike is giving my is accurate if the speedometer is off. Since October 14, 2022 the bike says I have put 5,469 miles on it over I am now averaging 46.0mph over 133.1 hours using 5.7l per 100km which translates to 41.3mpg. I haven't ran the tank completely empty and have only used high grade non-ethanol fuel and carry a 1L bottle that I've got strapped to the license plate and turn signal mount just in case. On the next warmer day I'm going to use the Google Map app on my phone to check speed and distance against road markers on side roads and the mileposts on the NYS Thruway. I'm going to try checking it in both Eco and Sport modes to get a better idea.
I have a decent understanding of but I'm just a little slower to grasp things and not up to date on the latest tech. Can anyone give me a short version of how or where this CFMOTO or newer bikes in general get the data calculate those figures? If the speedometer is off does that mean my odometer, fuel consumption, average speed, engine hours are all off as well?
I can't possibly be the only person on the planet with these issues!! Are you an owner? Can you fill me in? Can you provide any information on what country you're in? Can you reach out and help me get a new sensor mailed to New York in the US? The only identification or # on the original sensor is HT20211211. Can you get one that isn't from the same batch? My contact info is on the channel about page.
Keep those odometers turning!!
