In this episode, Amy discusses her experience of homelessness in Toronto amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Her experience is shaped by colonial violence—specifically the residential school system, child welfare and addiction—but she has retained optimism for a future life more liveable for her and her three-year-old child.
Despite the constant call to shelter in place, within Toronto, more than 8,000 people sleep inches apart—and these are the fortune few. Generation Homeless is a series that takes an intimate look at the impact of the unhoused crisis within Canadian cities; particularly as lived and experienced by youth.
