The 14th hole at Bovey Castle is a classic short par 4 where the only decision to make on the tee is does the risk match the reward?
With a green that’s well guarded by two pockets of towering trees that form a narrow entrance to the front portion of the green, laying well back off the tee is the play. From there you’ll still have to be wary of the trees but you should have a fairly straight forward short iron shot into the green.
Those who have the power can take on the green and, unless you hit the trees and get unlucky, leaving you stymied, as long as you get it green high, you’ll have a fairly good chance of getting up and down for a birdie.
Mark Crossfield shows you how to play this beautiful golf hole.
