2,551 male recruits of Intake 37 of 2023 of the Zambia Army, earmarked to undergo Special Forces basic training, have passed out at Special Forces Training School in Mbala, Northern province.
In a prestigious parade held today, the newest members of the Zambia Army stood proudly before distinguished guests and families.
The pass out ceremony, marked by a display of physical prowess, military drills and maneuvers, signified the culmination of over nine months of rigorous and back-breaking training under the tutelage of experienced Army Instructors.
Delivering a keynote speech at the event, Minister of Defense, Honorable Ambrose Lwiji Lufuma said the number of recruits enlisted into the Army is a demonstration of government's commitment to swiftly respond to threats.
Mr Lufuma urged the graduating recruits to be loyal to the government of the day, and to remain disciplined as they preserve the sovereignty and defend the territorial integrity of the nation.
Speaking at the same event, Commander Zambia Army, Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi thanked Republican President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Force, Mr Hakainde Hichilema for the unwavering financial and material support rendered to the Army to train the recruits to desired standards.
Lt Gen Alibuzwi hailed the Special Forces Training School for molding the recruits into capable soldiers, able to defend the territorial integrity of Zambia.
He urged the recruits to remain focused and uphold professionalism as they await to undergo another phase of training that will see them being inducted into the elite Special Forces group.
And 3 Special Forces Group Commander, Brigadier General Charles Swana disclosed that the recruits underwent over nine months of intensive training, preparing them for Special Forces basic training.
Brig Gen Swana has called on Command to help the school with more training aids, completion of the parade square and administration block, among other needy areas.
Meanwhile, Recruit Training Centre Commanding Officer and School Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Mutumba Munalula said the recruits are well trained and ready to undertake assigned tasks.
The passport parade was witnessed by representatives from other services, traditional leaders, government officials and family members among other guests, who undoubtedly shared a sense of pride as they watched their loved ones embark on a noble, but challenging career.
