Hiya and thanks for watching, its been a while since I've uploaded anything and this one I tried to keep it under an hour lol, failed it's over by a few mins BUT
the first part is roughing the blank so you don't have face plate screw holes in the final small core, with this being end grain the screws would have to be very long and thick to hold this wood secure, I show the coring of all the cores but I don't show the making of all of the bowls to keep the length of the vid down, some of it is sped up which is shaping the bowls as I don't want them being close to hemispherical.
I do run into a few problems due to this only being the second time I have used the bowl saver and one of them confused me but I have a good idea why it was happening which I explained in text at the bottom of the vid, in defence of woodcut this is also end grain which as you know is a lot tougher to hollow from rim to centre, when I get a log that I want to turn face grain like a crotch section I will do another vid of that but not as much detail, I promise not as much talking either :) ( I cut about 30 mins of waffle out of this vid!! }
I hope this is any help, as always happy turnings! , Mark.
