WAST live at VINILE - special guest Sabir Mateen - 2014

WAST (To be pronounced "vɑst") is a musical project that puts together very different experiences: the 8Bit sounds and the patterns of Tonylight intertwine with percussive textures made by Nicola Di Caprio. The electric guitar of Marco Fontana - between avantgarde and progressive - dialogues with melodic and/or noisy fragments generated by computer and trumpet of Gianluca Codeghini. From rock to electronic, from jazz to Kraut, WAST has a strong taste for a sound that is a tangle of "rhythm/noise/fourthworld", all played strictly live with an "open" spirit and a natural predisposition for instrumental interplay. WAST is an unpredictable than fascinating musical point of view.

Sabir Mateen is a musician and composer from Philadelphia who plays primarily in the avant-garde jazz idiom. He plays tenor and alto saxophone, B♭and alto clarinet, and flute.
He has performed or recorded with Cecil Taylor, Sunny Murray, William Parker, Alan Silva,Butch and Wilber Morris, Raphe Malik, Steve Swell,Roy Campbell, Jr.,Matthew Shipp, Marc Edwards,Jemeel Moondoc, William Hooker, Henry Grimes, Hamid Drake, among others. He also is a member of the band TEST, with Daniel Carter.
