Owen discusses what you need to know and why you might purchase a bed in a box mattress from Leesa over Purple, and vice versa. Both of these are popular online mattresses with a hybrid construction. Here's an overview of each of these mattresses.

Original Purple: This is the most affordable bed Purple offers. It's comprised of two layers of foam and the company's patented hyper elastic polymer - also called the GelFlex Grid. The bed lands around medium on the firmness scale. We think it's an excellent option for all types of sleepers (side, back, stomach).

Purple Hybrid & Purple Premier Hybrid: These beds used to be known as New Purple 2, New Purple 3 and New Purple 4 mattresses. The Purple Hybrid beds are similar to the Original model except they use coils for their support framework. The GelFlex Grid/hyper-elastic polymer allows for airflow making the beds cooling mattresses for hot sleepers.

Original Leesa: Popular foam bed in a box. The mattress has a soft foam feel and lands around a medium as far as firmness. The Original is the cheapest mattress Leesa offers.

Leesa Hybrid: This is the base hybrid mattress from Leesa. The bed is made of pocketed coils and various layers of foam. The Leesa Hybrid (formerly known as Sapira) is slightly firmer than the Original Leesa. As such, we think it's an excellent choice for back and stomach sleepers in particular.

Leesa Legend: The Legend is a premium hybrid mattress. The bed contains dual layers of coils and an organic cotton cover. It's an excellent choice for side sleepers, back sleepers and stomach sleepers.
