From Samarkand, I took a marshrutka (small Soviet bus) to the Uzbek-Tajik border. The control there went pretty smoothly. I then took another marshrutka directly to Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, passing through Panjakent. The entire journey took around 8 hours to complete. I arrived to Dushanbe at night and decided to tour a little bit before falling asleep on a bench in a central park. It was quiet, and I was dead tired, so I slept like a baby, although laying down on that bench wasn't that comfortable.
