October 1986, Middlesbrough travel to St Andrews for a Littlewoods League Cup 2nd Round 2nd leg tie against Birmingham City. The first leg had finished 2-2 at Ayresome Park and Boro, flying high in the third division were hoping to cause a minor upset against their second division hosts. It was not to be however as despite a couple of goals from Brian Laws, The Blues won 3-2 on the night for a 5-4 aggregate win.
