(12 Mar 2018) South Korea's national intelligence chief was seen arriving at a Seoul airport on Monday morning en route to Tokyo, following talks in Pyongyang and Washington last week.
Suh Hoon will update senior Japanese officials on the recent inter-Korea talks and moves towards a possible US-North Korea summit.
Suh and deputy intelligence chief Nam Gwan-pyo will meet with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono later in the day and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tuesday.
US President Donald Trump has agreed to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for an historic face-to-face summit at a date and time still to be determined.
The meeting would be the first of its kind between a leader of North Korea and a sitting president of the United States.
The two countries have been in a formal state of war since the Korean War in the 1950s.
