(4 Jun 2020) A small group of relatives attended the burial of Paulo Roberto Silva, a 47 year old victim of COVID-19 in Sao Paulo on Thursday.
Silva's grave in the Sao Luiz cemetery is one of many opened by cemetery workers in Sao Paulo, the Brazilian state with the highest rate of deaths due to the new coronavirus.
After feeling some symptoms, Da Silva sought help in a health unit, then was sent to the 'Hospital das Clinicas', a COVID-19 treatment centre in Sao Paulo.
He remained hospitalized for one week but died on Wednesday.
According to his family, he was tested positive for COVID-19 but also suffered a stroke.
In Rio de Janeiro, new patients arrive at the field hospital called Lagoa-Barra thats is exclusively for COVID-19 patients.
From another gate, it was possible to see a car carrying coffins leaving the health unit.
Sandra Maria Pereira, a resident of Rio de Janeiro, criticized the easing of the preventive measures.
Pereira, 59, works taking care of elderly people.
Rio de Janeiro, Manaus and other cities began relaxing some restrictive measures this week.
Brazil reported 1,349 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday night, the highest 24-hour increase to its death toll since the outbreak began, and broke the record set the prior day.
Brazil has reported about 32,500 deaths from the virus so far, the fourth most of any country in the world, trailing behind Italy.
Experts consider the tally a significant undercount due to insufficient testing.
