In this video we go through how to divide up a large contact list on a WIX website - using the label system. It is a quick and powerful method to control larger lists of contacts and it takes only a few minutes to put in place.

It is easy to organize your contacts on Wix website into different categories by adding labels and by dividing a large contact list by doing this.

There are a couple of things to know first when it comes to dividing up your contact list. First of all, you should know that if you have a large contact list, it would actually be time consuming to add a label manually to every single one of them. Instead of doing that manually, you could export your contacts as a CSV file, divide up the file and re-import each one of them individually, each imported contact will receive a label with the name of the file.

To divide up a large contact list, export your contacts to a CSV file. In order to do this, you will need to go to your dashboard on the left side of your page and click on the 'contacts and CRM' tab then select 'contact list' from the options that you are going to receive.

When you enter the 'contact list' page, click on the 'more actions' drop down menu which you are going to find on the right side of the page then choose the 'export contacts' tab. Here, you should select the contacts that you would like to export then select 'regular CSV file' and click 'export'. This file will be automatically downloaded to your computer. You will need to open this file in Microsoft Excel, save the file in a 'CSV' format and give it the name of the first label.

You will need to repeat the same steps for each label that you want to create and you could even remove some of the contacts from the Excel sheet which do not belong to that label which you have.

When you have organized the CSV files and arranged your contacts accordingly, import each CSV file separately into your contact list. Go back to Wix and from contact list select 'more actions' and then choose the 'import contacts' option from the list. Now choose 'upload a CSV file' and click select. Now you will be asked to upload the file and you will choose the one you have labelled as the first - or the one you want actually - and click open. If your contacts are subscribers then don't forget to tick the 'set contacts as subscribers' box at this stage, click import, and then repeat the same steps for each contact list or group.

When you are sending emails from your Wix website, you could now select a specific label to which you could send the emails to from your contacts, and that's after you have gone through these different steps we have just shared with you.
