What may be bewildering is the cloud of overwhelming information around the list of documents needed to buy car insurance in the UAE. To solve this issue, we've compiled a comprehensive list of everything you need to buy car insurance. Here's a list -

For A New or Second Hand Car, You Will Need:

• Proof of citizenship or residency: If you are a citizen of the UAE, you will be required to submit your emirates ID as proof of the name and residency in the country. If you are an ex-pat, you will need your passport and the resident’s Visa for the same. If you are an ex-pat but already have your emirates ID, keep it in the set as well.
• Proof of the Vehicle ownership: Here you will need your registration card that states all the specifications including model make, year of manufacture etc.
• A copy of your UAE driver’s license OR your Home Country Driving License.
• Bank LPO if the car is financed.
• Showroom invoice.
• A confirmation letter from the manufacturer specifying the GCC specifications of the car.

For Car Insurance Renewal, you will need:

• Emirates ID
• UAE Driving License
• Car Registration Card or Mulkiya
• The No Claim Bonus certificate from a previous car insurance provider, if you previously had another car insurance plan and are buying a new one.
