Micropropagation is the process of multiplying banana plant material by growing
plantlets in in- vitro condition to produce a large number of progeny plants and then
planting them out. The main advantage is that micropropagation helps in the
propagation of a large number of plants in a very short time. The plantlets produced
are healthy and with desired characteristics.
The different stages of micropropagation include:
Selection of mother plant
Establishment of aseptic culture
Shoot multiplication
Root induction
Hardening and field transplantation
