A 6.1 magnitude earthquake shook south-eastern Afghanistan in the early hours of Wednesday, killing more than 250 people.

The earthquake's epicentre was near the town of Khost, close to the Pakistan border, and was felt as far as Kabul and Islamabad. Deaths were also reported in the eastern province Nangarhar, according to Taliban officials
