The word "queer" really shows us how language changes over time! It originally meant "peculiar" or "eccentric." In the early 1900s it began to be used as a derogatory term for LGBTQ+ people and relationships, but started to be reclaimed by our community in the 1980's. Now, many people use it as an umbrella term to describe their various LGBTQ+ identities. Do you use the word for yourself?
