Maneesh Gossain, M.D., board certified in radiation oncology practicing at Central Florida Cancer Care Center explains the importance of men getting a prostate cancer screening by the age of 50.
According to the American Cancer Society, men aged 50 or older should seek out a digital rectal exam (DRE) and a blood test to check the level of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in their bodies. African-American men and men with a family history of prostate cancer should be examined beginning at 45.
Prostate Cancer is the second leading form of cancer among men, but early detection leads to a 90% recovery rate. That’s why it’s paramount men receive a colonoscopy by the age of 50.
