Join us for this recording of our virtual event that aired on Saturday, October 26, 2024 as we celebrated International Make A Difference with Loukoumi Day!
We started the day with our virtual event at Our Lady of Grace School in the Bronx, NY, uniting thousands of children across the globe as we learned what they are doing to make a difference in their cities.
Our virtual event started with a celebration of the LOUKOUMI Make A Difference Foundation Treatment Room at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and within the first few minutes of the broadcast we reached our milestone goal of $150,000 raised to fully fund the treatment room. Throughout the broadcast we heard from fundraising superstars Daniela Fogliano, Ava Tsapatsaris and Arsh Pal as well as Alexis Brown from St. Jude and Alivia Parks, the St. Jude patient "with the daisy headband" that inspired us all.
Our virtual event also featured an impactful discussion on wellness, mental health and the impact that teaching children to do good has on their self-esteem and their mental health as they discover purpose and become better people and better students Panelists included visionary Karen Guggenheim, Founder and CEO of the World Happiness Summit, Isabelle Razis, co-founder of Wellbeingr and law student Athina Vyrgioti.
Following the virtual event teams of children in 30 cities embarked on in person good deeds including Andrea Rivera from Mayaguez Puerto Rico, who led a shoe and supply drive for an orphanage in Honduras, Tessa Nordine who hosted a charity walk for dogs, and students who traveled our Good Deed buses worldwide including in Gander Newfoundland Canada.
The Loukoumi Foundation also presented a $10,000 donation to the The Floating Hospital, the fourth installment of our $50,000 pledge to fund the Maria Loi/Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation Teaching Kitchen.
On October 26, the Loukoumi Make A Difference movement was as vibrant ever, with ripples reverberating around the world. Together we made a difference!
