On this week's episode of Dynamic Discussions, Greg and David help us understand what a rescue plan is and how to properly prepare one.
OSHA requires jobsites to have a written rescue plan prepared. If someone does happen to fall and thankfully gets caught by their personal fall arrest system, there must be a swift rescue plan to spring into action. Suspension trauma sets in quickly, in as little as 15 minutes and can cause sever injuries to the worker even though the fall was arrested successfully. Prompt rescue is just as important as arresting or preventing the fall. Calling an ambulance should not be your first step, they will take too long and more trauma will occur.
A proper rescue plan cannot be created without first making a fall protection plan and a hazard assessment. Guides for these documents and many other safety resources can be found for free on our website via the links below!
