Lainie Rowell is an independent professional developer and consultant. She works closely with educators to find innovative ways to improve teaching and learning.
Prior to this, Lainie taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 6th grade. In 2002, she took on a role as a site-level professional developer which progressed to a position as a district-level K-12 educational technology coordinator supporting 22,000 students and 1,200 teachers at 33 schools.
Lainie's client list ranges from Fortune 100 companies like Google to school districts and independent schools. She is also a part of Alan November's November Learning team and a presenter at local, regional and international conferences including TEDxManhattanBeach, Building Learning Communities (BLC), Macworld, ISTE and the CUE Conference.
From 2010-2014, Lainie served as Program Coordinator for Leading Edge Certification, a national certification program in educational technology and curriculum innovation created by an Alliance of nonprofits, universities and educational agencies. She led the creation and curation of all four certifications, Online and Blended Teacher, Administrator, Digital Educator and Professional Learning Leader.
Lainie is honored to be an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Teacher, Google Education Trainer and STAR Discovery Educator. She has also been recognized as Teacher of the Year and was featured in OC Family Magazine as one of 10 Teachers Making a Difference. In 2011, she was elected to Computer-Using Educators' Board of Directors and is currently serving as Secretary.
Lainie has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University. She has also earned a Multiple Subject Credential and Master of Arts in Educational Technology from California State University, Long Beach where she is a guest speaker.
