Maternal matters is an AHDB initiative putting a spotlight on the importance of maternal performance in driving profitability in the suckler herd. In this webinar we heard from AHDB’s lead analyst for Farm Economics, Carol Davis, for an insight into the key elements that affect profitability on suckler farms. We were also be joined by Steven Sandison who farms 100 Simmental and Saler cross cows on the Orkney Islands. Steven completed a Nuffield report, ‘Are benchmarking targets for suckler cows achievable?’ and was Orkney’s first monitor farm.
