After waiting as patiently as possible, FFXVI finally arrived on PC! Despite it taking a few extra weeks for it to land in my lap, I can now experience the game in its entirety, and nobody can stop me.
Easily one of the darkest, and the most mature Final Fantasy I've played to date. Nothing I've played prior even comes close. The world, as expected, is oozing with rich lore. What makes this setting even more interesting to me though, is the near Medieval low fantasy setting. There's war, political intrigue, slaughter, adult themes, and more mixed perfectly with Final Fantasy's identity & massive Eikon fights that fill your veins with so much adrenaline you feel as though you yourself could prime.
It's no question, Final Fantasy XVI is a pretty substantial departure from the usual formulas of the franchise. This seems to make or break it for some players. While I have some minor gripes, it took no time at all for me to fall in love with the game. The combat, although taking me time to get use to, is fun & addicting. Exploring the stunning world. Being massively impressed with the main story & Eikon sequences. Making a reference to FFXIV every ten minutes. Now I get to share that excitement.
This is the complete version of the game, including both of its DLC expansions. I'll be playing and digging through as much content as I can. However, it's possible I might miss something unintentionally, as is common to do in Final Fantasy. Experiencing this game in its fullest also includes multiple hours of reading and consuming the title's lore entries. It is entirely possible that I will continue the Let's Play past the "Story Finale" to take on New Game+ & the increased difficulty mode called "Final Fantasy Mode". Though I may decide against it by the end, we'll see.
If this is your first time on my channel, take note of my playstyle incase it's not your thing. I tend to take my time with the games I play. Especially if I'm thoroughly enjoying them. I don't rush quests or exploration. My Let's Plays are also old school. They include all gameplay from the moment I launch the game for the first time, to the moment I finish the LP. Taking on a Let's Play for a deep narrative driven game with heavy themes? Couldn't be Tigerfrost, surely.
NOTE: This is a "BLIND" Let's Play, however, the early episodes aren't marked as such as I had originally tried playing on the PS5, up to Northreach. However a lot of my experience was lost due to the awful events in my life at the time. So you can still consider the early parts as "Blind-ish". I've simply decided not to title them as such until later, to avoid making people angry with technicalities.
NOTE 2: This is the PC port for the game, and unfortunately, it has a few issues. Most notable in the form of stuttering via a possible memory leak. The earlier episodes suffer the most. I refuse to let that defeat me though, so I push through using methods like restarting the game every hour & clearing the shader cache to provide the smoothest experience I can acquire. Still not perfect unfortunately.
