A2 He.177A (+1) 15, my first strength 5 unit. Level 4 strategic bombers are great, level 5 are even better.

Intro:
Another big iconic scenario in the grand campaign. The main difficulty is the 29 enemy aircraft, including some large waves. Combined with numerous soviet SP-AA. The problem is to create separation to engage enemy planes while staying out of AA return fires. So I will use 5 fighters and 4 dual purpose tactical bombers. I am reluctant to field more fighters as there is also a lot of enemy ground forces to deal with. Yet I’ll bring my two Flak.36 to provide some AA fire of my own.

There are 3 significant soviet armored formations, including some boss tanks and elite units with 300 xp. However this should not be a problem for my Panthers, though my less experienced ones could be in danger. On the positive side, there are a lot of turns and I will soon receive a pair of auxiliary heroes reinforcements, which should prove useful. in contrast the AA half-track are weak in ultimate.

You can start in 3 of the 4 map corners. You could consider ignoring the bottom right corner and stack all your units on the left side, it simplifies the air war and allows for more synergies. But both left side starting positions are far away from the action on the initial turns. In contrast the right side starting position allows you to hit the enemy from behind immediately, and is pretty effective albeit dangerous.

So I’ll stack the SE setup area as much as I can with a very strong force to quickly cross the Donets in force and immediately thrust into the Soviets rear areas. Meanwhile a medium armored group with fast units will push from the SW to progressively clear the vast open area in the bottom half. Finally a smaller group will grind into the rugged terrain in the NW.
