The Climate Change Action Plan of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program will be presented at COP29, the upcoming UN conference in Baku next week. This was announced in Astana during the 23rd CAREC Ministerial Conference, which this year focuses on regional energy security and climate change issues. Participants included CAREC countries, development partners, and representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The latter signed an agreement with South Korea and China to establish a trust fund for green project development in Central Asia. The countries allocated $5 million. As a CAREC member, Kazakhstan will have access to these funds to develop regional climate projects.
